Beloved Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
US actor Finn, who was seen in iconic television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California this Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by reports.
"Pat Finn never met a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a statement.
They added that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of well-known programs, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.
Pat Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his family.
