Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
