Individual Who Reached For Ariana Grande at Film Launch Barred from Singapore
An Australian man who vaulted over a barricade and touched celebrity Ariana Grande has been expelled and banned from Singapore.
The individual, twenty-six, was handed a penalty to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control informed Singaporean press.
Wen pushed through camera crews and approached aggressively the celebrity, who was attending the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
He has a background of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including rushing the stage at the pop star's Australian show in this summer.
The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people saying he of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The singer has mentioned suffering from PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her performance in the UK city in spring of 2017 resulted in the deaths of over twenty people and affected hundreds.
In the legal process, the judge was informed he had tried to gain access on the movie's debut on two occasions, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a second attempt to breach security. Security staff intercepted him and held him in place.
The man subsequently shared video clips expressing gratitude to the star for permitting his access and said he was "released."
Police took him into custody the next day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which the man admitted guilt.
The Presiding Judge Christopher Goh was cited by a news outlet as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", commenting that he was incorrect to believe he would not face any penalties.
Grande has not commented on the incident.
The co-star discussed the situation to NBC, remarking that she "simply desired to make sure my colleague was protected."
"I believe he had no intention to us harm, but you can't predict with those things, and I wanted to ensure that she was alright. That was my first instinct," she commented.
