Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported debris landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
