President Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Military Members to White House
President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.
He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Event
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Vigils across the state have taken place in their remembrance.
White House Invitation
The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Reaction
Community members came together over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid law enforcement in DC.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that educators desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to help others.”
Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Policy Revisions
Officials have accused a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.
The event led the administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to possessors of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
